Best Gunfire Reborn Builds: Ranked & Explained

Top Gunfire Reborn builds ranked by effectiveness. Detailed breakdowns with gear, stat priorities, pros, cons, and playstyle guides.

Gunfire Reborn looks like a shooter and scores like a deckbuilder. The gun in your hands matters less than the stack of ascensions, scrolls and inscriptions you have accumulated by the third stage, and the runs that end badly are usually the ones where you took damage upgrades over multipliers.

Elements do the scaling, bullets do not

Every element applies a status, and the statuses combine.

Decay spreads damage between nearby enemies. Miasma corrodes over time. Shock chains. Burn ticks. Freeze stops things dead.

Combining two elements on the same target triggers a fusion effect that outperforms either alone, and this is where the damage in a late run actually comes from. A weapon with mediocre raw numbers and a strong elemental inscription outperforms a high-damage weapon with none.

Build toward one or two elements deliberately, then take every ascension and scroll that boosts them.

Heroes decide the shape of the run

Each hero has two abilities and a personal ascension pool, and they play genuinely differently rather than reskinning each other.

Crown Prince is the beginner's hero, with straightforward damage and a shield. Ao Bai dual-wields and explodes things. Qing Yan is melee and thrives up close. Lei Luo is the precision option, rewarding headshots with mobility. Tao is fast and lethal and unforgiving. Qian Sui absorbs punishment and returns it.

Ascension choices should reinforce the hero's identity rather than patch its weakness. A Lei Luo build that ignores headshot synergies to add survivability ends up with neither.

Inscriptions are why two identical guns are not identical

Weapons roll inscriptions, and the rarity determines how many. These are the equivalent of item affixes, and one good inscription can outweigh a full rarity tier.

Look for inscriptions that add elemental effect, raise magazine size, or convert damage type. Flat damage inscriptions are the weakest of the useful ones because they do not multiply with anything.

Upgrading a weapon costs resources that could go elsewhere, so upgrade the weapon carrying your build rather than the one with the highest listed number.

Scrolls compound, so buy early

Scrolls are passive effects that stack for the whole run. Their value comes from how long they have to work, which means a scroll bought in stage one is worth several bought in stage four.

Spend early and freely. Hoarding currency for a better shop later is how runs end at a comfortable difficulty with a full wallet.

Occult scrolls carry a drawback alongside a large benefit and are usually worth it, particularly the ones whose downside your hero ignores.

Reincarnation is the real difficulty curve

Beating the game unlocks Reincarnation levels, which stack modifiers on the enemies and are where the build depth actually gets tested.

At low Reincarnation almost any coherent build clears. At high levels you need elemental fusion, a scroll set that supports it, and the discipline to reroll a run that has not come together by the second stage.

Knowing when to abandon a run is a skill. A stage two loadout with no elemental identity and no scrolls will not survive stage five, and the twenty minutes spent finding that out are twenty minutes that could have been a better run.

The Gunfire Reborn beginner's guide covers hero unlocks and the early stages.
